Use Project Fi? Google Will Pay You $20 to Do This

Google’s Project Fi is a great cell phone plan for those who don’t use a lot of data. We reviewed it earlier this year and found it to be simple, cheap, and effective.

Eschewing the traditional phone carrier practice of screwing you over as much as possible, Google has treated its Fi subscribers to little bonuses like a LEGO phone stand and a $10 Google Play credit. Its latest move is to offer $20 to anyone who refers a friend to Project Fi.

If you’re a current Fi subscriber, open the Project Fi app on your phone and look for the Refer a Friend notice.

The app provides a six-character code that you can send to a friend. Once someone signs up for Project Fi and stays active for 30 days, both of you will earn $20. You can refer up to ten people and they’ll have until January 11, 2017 to accept the invitation. Note that this does not apply to Project Fi’s new group plans.

While $20 isn’t much, it will cover a month’s worth of unlimited talk and text on Fi. If you were thinking about trying Project Fi yourself, get in touch with someone who already uses it and you can save some cash right away!
